The organizers of this conference asked me to prepare a paper dealing with puffery and environmental marketing.  At first blush I could not discern a unifying theme.  Then, of course, I thought of Al Gore.  While I am clearly displaying my biases, and no doubt being somewhat unfair, I do think the issue of environmental claims has been puffed up to some considerable degree, and I think that they are going to become even more significant in the future as a marketing tool.  [Should this be considered an ethical business practice?]
